Activities in Tenerife

After spending a few weeks in Tenerife last summer, the people from Visit Tenerife invited me to come over again. This time around it would be less time chilling on the beach and more time exploring the Island in various ways. It was a short stay, and I’m sure there are many more fun things to do on Tenerife, but here’s my Top 3:

Hiking

No matter how many times I return to Tenerife, the Teide national park is always on my list of places I have to visit. And somehow it always feels special being there, imagine being on Mars minus the Martians. The landscape is so incredibly cool, with rocks in all shapes and colors decorating the scenery in the shadow of El Teide, on of the highest volcanoes in the world.

And if you already think it looks nice during daytime, then just wait until you see all the stars during the night. With no air- or light pollution, the National park is the ideal location to spot the Milky Way, and perhaps count some stars.

E-Biking

E-Bikes, who doesn’t love them? Everyone loves the feeling of actually performing a physical activity while secretly you let your bike do all the hard work. In Tenerife you definitely need the ‘E’ before your bike because all the roads go either steep up or down, never flat. Together with Bike Point Tenerife, we explored a different part of the Teide National park. Beautiful views all over!

Kayaking

Sea kayaking is always a nice experience, but maybe it’s even better in Tenerife. We met up with the people from Teno Activo, and they showed us the area in front of Los Gigantes. Some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe! A perfect location to do some kayaking, as it’s never windy and the water is as blue as it gets! Don’t forget to wear a swimsuit to cool off in the water from time to time!
