Peakdesign Travel line

Peakdesign, what’s in a bag?

A good camera backpack, something every photographer needs but also something that is hard to find. I’ve used quite a few different models from different brands already and honestly, there’s always something that bothers me. Either it looks bad or it feels bad, sometimes even both. Also: most bags are pretty expensive so it’s not your everyday investment. You can’t go around buying a different backpack every month or you’ll end up broke.

So a few months ago I had the opportunity to try the Peakdesign 45L backpack from their travel line. I’ve been an avid user of their products since years so I was really curious to see if this backpack lived up to their and my standards.

My first impressions when i received the bag were great: it looked nice (worthy to carry around on a city trip) and the materials seemed to be from a good quality as well. I couldn’t wait to take it to Namibia!

The backpack quickly got it’s first big test: i’m the type of guy who would never leave any of his photo equipment in the checked in luggage, so I always want my gear safe with me on board. The Peakdesign 45L had to fit all my stuff: 2 full-frame bodies, a 100-400mm zoomlens, a 24-70mm, a 50mm and a Mavic pro 2 drone. All with spare batteries. And my laptop and memory cards and all that. All of that easily fitted in my 2 camera pouches, a small and medium one.

Oh I forgot to mention my favorite part: the different camera pouches. You can easily change the set-up of your bag. So when I arrived in Namibia, I took out the small camera pouch and stored everything I didn't need for a hike in there.

The backpack passed the first test. After my Namibia trip I took it with me to Switzerland and did some hiking with it. It performed very well again. Also on my Tenerife trip, which was more of a relaxed holiday trip, the bag did it’s job. I stored my camera gear, but also a GoPro and my beach towels in it easily.

So my opinion about the Peakdesign 45L? So far so good, I could only recommend it and I can’t wait to take it with me on my next travels!
